The Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs follows Governor Spencer Cox’s charge to amplify the profile of rural Utah to ensure the state’s breadth of experiences and resources are celebrated.

Rural Matters: State Rural Resources

A strong team supports rural affairs and resources at the state level, including the Utah Center for Rural Development, the Utah Office of Rural Health, and a governor-appointed senior advisor. Consider the data in the Utah Community Development Office’s Report (2019) as a way to learn more Utah’s thriving towns and villages and dive into some of the impactful programs that that state is offering to support workforce development in some of the most remote parts of Utah.

Arts & Culture in Rural Utah

The arts and culture scene is alive and well in Utah’s rural communities, as evidenced by the large crowds who attended outdoor theater at the Tuacahn Center for Arts in Ivins, the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, and touring shows and local talent hosted by Cache Valley Center for the Arts in Logan. Beyond performing arts, hometown fun and traditions are celebrated at the Peach Festival in Hurricane and other fruit harvest festivals around the state.
